Terms of Service
Last updated October 11, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Launch529 (“Launch529,” “we,” “us”) for using our website, app, assistant, API and connected-app features (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
What Launch529 is, and isn’t
Launch529 helps families plan for college costs and track spending from a 529 savings plan. Everything it shows, including cost estimates, savings projections, plan comparisons, qualified-expense checks and reimbursement suggestions, is general information based on published data and the details you give us. It is not tax, legal, financial or investment advice, and we are not a financial advisor, broker or your plan’s administrator. Rules change and depend on your situation. Confirm important decisions with a qualified professional and your plan provider. We do not move money, and we do not make withdrawals from your 529.
Accounts and families
- You must be at least 13 to use the Service, and if you are under the age of majority where you live you may use it only with a parent or guardian’s permission. A parent may add a younger child by first name for planning, but children under 13 do not have accounts.
- Give accurate information and keep your sign-in secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- An account belongs to a family. The person who creates it is its owner and decides who else joins (parents, students, accountants and other guests) and what each can see and do. Anyone you add can see the information their access allows. Please add only people you trust.
- You may only enter information about other people, such as your children, if you have the right to.
Plans, billing and cancelling
The Savings Planner is free. Some features, such as tracking real 529 accounts and expenses, receipts by email or text, connected accounts and the assistant’s tracking tools, are part of a paid plan (“Pro”). Prices and what is included are shown on our pricing page. Payments are handled by Stripe. Paid plans renew until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time in Settings under Billing. Cancelling stops future charges, and you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. Taxes may apply. We may change prices for future periods and will tell you in advance.
Your information
You own what you put into Launch529, including expenses, receipts and notes. You give us permission to store it, process it and show it to the people you choose, only to run and improve the Service for you, as described in our Privacy Policy. You can export your data and ask us to delete your account at any time.
Using the Service responsibly
Please don’t:
- break the law, or use the Service to submit false or misleading records, including expenses or receipts that aren’t real;
- try to get into accounts or data that aren’t yours, or to probe, overload or disrupt the Service;
- copy, resell or scrape the Service, or use its API or tools in a way that avoids rate limits or access rules;
- send us malware, or content you have no right to share;
- share a private link, API key or webhook secret with people who shouldn’t have it.
We may limit or suspend access that puts the Service or other people at risk.
AI features and connected apps
- The in-app assistant and receipt reading use AI. AI can be wrong. Check what it reads, adds or suggests before you rely on it. Expenses read from receipts, emails and texts wait for a person to review them before they count.
- You can connect Launch529 to an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT, or to another tool, with a sign-in approval or an API key. A connection can do what you can do in Launch529, including making changes if you allow it. You are responsible for the connections you approve. Keep keys private and disconnect anything you no longer use.
- We don’t control other companies’ assistants. What they do with information once they have it, and what they say, is governed by their own terms and is not our responsibility.
Third-party services
The Service works with others, including Supabase, Stripe, Plaid, Resend, Twilio, Anthropic, Google and Vercel. Connecting an account or using a feature that relies on them may be subject to their terms, such as Plaid’s when you link a bank. Text messages from us may carry carrier charges, and you can reply STOP to end texts at any time. Third-party data, such as college costs from the U.S. Department of Education, comes from published sources and may be out of date.
Availability and changes
We work to keep Launch529 available and accurate, but we don’t promise it will be uninterrupted or error free. We may change or remove features, and we will give reasonable notice for changes that significantly affect paid plans. We may update these terms. If a change is material we will tell you by email or in the app, and using the Service after the change means you accept it.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including that the Service is accurate, complete, fit for a particular purpose, or non-infringing, and we do not guarantee any tax result or that any expense qualifies for a 529 withdrawal.
Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Launch529 and the people who run it are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost savings, tax penalties, lost data or lost profits, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100 if you haven’t paid anything. Some places don’t allow some of these limits, so they apply only as far as the law lets them.
Ending your account
You can stop using Launch529 and close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk. When an account closes we handle your data as described in the Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as disclaimers and limits on liability, will.
